October Update

I’m not sure what happened to August and September, but here we are in October and I am finally updating.  I’m hoping the reason it’s taken so long is due to increased shop activity! At any rate, I can’t wait any longer because we have so much happening in October that I really have to get the word out!  We have five classes and three special events scheduled for the month, so I really hope you can find something that works for you!
One thing I wanted to mention – I’ve been trying to make the website more useful and have added a link for kit purchases and online class registration.  The events page now has a “month at a glance” calendar with links to the registration page for each event or class listed.  We still have work to do here, but it’s coming along.  Here’s a link to the events page in case you want to check it out.  Events and Classes Page
Stash Busting Party/swap – Saturday October 6 from 1-3 pm!
Join us for some swapping and sharing of stash yarn! Bring yarn that you would like to re-home, and pick up some new yarn to play with. We will have some free patterns available as well so you can figure out what to do with all those random skeins. Please be sure all yarn you bring is clean, pest-free, and labelled by brand and fiber content.
Guess who’s coming to GMF?  Meet designer Nancy Bates!
Save the date – Sunday, October 14 we will have a visit from none other than Nancy Bates, designer of the popular National Park Beanies!  She is coming to the area for some sheep and wool festivals but is making a trip to Rutland to visit the shop.  We agreed a casual meet and greet is in order.  She will be here mid-afternoon on the 14th!
Want to do some charitable knitting or crocheting?
Green Mountain Fibers will now be a drop-off spot for collecting knitted or crocheted items for the Community Cupboard.  Suggested items would be hats, mittens, scarves, or anything to keep someone warm and cozy during the colder months.  Nancy Livak (one of our lovely customers) has generously offered to pick up our donations and deliver them to the Community Cupboard sometime close to Thanksgiving.
