Just before June

A couple of noteworthy updates!

Tomorrow, June 1, join us for a celebration of Amanda’s first “Year of Yarn”.  Marilyn Brandner and her angora rabbit will be here with a demonstration of spinning direct from the rabbit!

The Stitch Doctor is In – Nancy will be here from 1 pm onward to help you fix your knitting mistakes.

Ruth Stoneman will also be here offering you the opportunity to try your hand at some new crochet stitches.

And A Year of Yarn kicks off our Summer Squares Knit-Along. There will be four featured patterns with small squares you can knit throughout your summer adventures, and then put together for an afghan by the winter!

And if that isn’t enough…there will be cake!

World Wide Knit in Public Day will be held next Saturday, June 8.  Knitters will be gathered in Depot Park (on Evelyn Street, next to the Farmers’ Market and “The Leash” statue) from 10-1 to knit and socialize in public.  Bring your lawn chair, some water and snacks, and your projects!  And grab some delicious and local snacks (or even yarn!) at the Farmers’ Market right next to you.  The rain location alternative will be at the Rutland Free Library in the Fox Room.

Housekeeping notes – the website has been updated with links to register for June classes.  We will offer Learn to Knit, Learn to Crochet and Learn to Spin, along with a crochet workshop (reading charts with the Klaziena shawl) and a lace knitting workshop.

As always, Sit-n-Knit is happening three times a week – on Thursdays (6-8 pm) and Sundays (12-5) for everyone, and on Mondays (3-5 pm) just for the guys!
