Saturday morning - breakfast at the Inn, followed by a field trip to Maple View Alpaca Farm and Fiber Studio.

Saturday afternoon - Tapestry felting class with Vermont artist Neysa Russo (with a dog-themed pattern custom created especially for this retreat)

Saturday evening - more social knitting time

Sunday morning - breakfast at the Inn followed by Yoga for Knitters and a visit to the host shop - Green Mountain Yarn & Fiber

Retreat Details:

The cost for the retreat is $300.  This includes the Friday evening reception and all field trips, classes, class materials and a special dog-themed knitting kit.  Lodging at the Paw House Inn is separate and includes breakfast.

You will be responsible for meals other than breakfast, as well as transportation to and from the Maple View Alpaca Farm on Saturday morning.  As the farm is located a short drive away in Brandon, we suggest stopping for lunch in Brandon or Rutland on your way back to the Inn before the afternoon class begins.

Other important notes and retreat information:

Here is a link to the Paw House Inn where we are hosting the event.  There are a variety of accommodations and you can choose what suits you (and your dog!) best.   The Paw House offers many services so that your dog is comfortable while you're occupied in a class or at the alpaca farm.  We strongly encourage participants to stay at the Paw House, but we have reserved four spots as "commuter" registrations.  Commuters will incur an additional facilities use fee at the Inn.  Our retreat limits are based on double occupancy.  Depending on the number of people booking rooms, we may be able to offer additional commuter spaces as we get closer to the date.

The Paw House Inn will be offering 15% off their regular room rates for our participants.  Please call Jennifer at (802) 779-7698 to find out more about rooms for the retreat.

Maple View Alpaca Farm and Fiber Studio will welcome our group on Saturday morning. Here's a link to their website where you can learn about their herd, farm and studio.

The Tapestry Felting Class will be held from 2-6 pm on Saturday at the Inn.  It is likely that you will complete most, but possibly not all, of the project during this time.  In the event that you don't finish, you will be well equipped to finish on your own.  All tools and materials necessary for the class will be provided. The design for the tapestry you'll be creating will look very much like the alpaca tapestry pictured, but will feature a dog.

Your instructor Neysa Russo works from her studio in Bradford, Vermont. She combines the techniques of wet felting and needle felting to create museum quality tapestries of exquisite beauty  and charm. Fascinated by the rich history of design and inspired by ancient textiles from around the world, her expertise comes to life with creative design composition and dramatic use of color. She is an author, markets her own line of kits, exhibits her work in galleries and teaches. Her working studio is open to the public in Bradford, Vermont, where she sells felting supplies and holds classes.

The Yoga for Knitters class will be held at the Inn on Sunday morning.  It is included in the retreat but you will need to sign up for it if you would like to attend.  If you do want to attend, extended dog care and a late check-out time will be available to you.  This chair yoga class will not require a mat, and is appropriate for all bodies and experience levels.

Visit to Green Mountain Yarn & Fiber - The shop will be open only for  members of our group from 10:30 am - noon on Sunday morning.  The shop opens to the public at noon and hosts Sit-n-Knit from 1-5 pm, and you are welcome to join that if you're not in a hurry to get out of town.  Extended dog care and a late check out from the Inn will be available to accommodate this.

Registration and Cancellation:

We expect that this retreat will fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged.  In the event that you need to cancel, you may do so until 60 days prior to the event.  After that, your registration is nonrefundable, unless we can fill your spot from our waiting list.  In that case, you will receive a refund minus a $75 processing fee.  We cannot offer refunds for situations beyond anyone's control, including (but not limited to)  illness, weather, or travel difficulties.  We recommend travel insurance if you are concerned about these possibilities.

A final note concerning Inn reservations:  Once you have completed your registration, it is necessary to call the Paw House Inn to make your room reservation.  Although they offer online reservations, the rooms have been blocked out to reserve them for our group, so a phone call to reserve your room is necessary.  Please call them at (802) 779-7698.
