Steeking Class
Mar 29, 10:30 am to 1 pm
Join Ellen to take the scariness out of steeking! Steeking is a technique where a piece is knit in the round, and then the desired openings are cut with scissors before being finished off. Steeking is often used for colorwork because it is easier and quicker to knit in the round. In advance of the class, students will need to knit either Steek This Coffee Cozy by Rachel Molenaar or Simple Steek Mug by Dorie Lysaght (both are free on Ravelry); students must use 100% non-superwash wool. During the class, Ellen will demonstrate steeking, including how to prepare, cut, and finish the cozy. In addition to the completed knitting, students will need a crochet hook one size smaller than their knitting needles, small scissors with a sharp point, and a small amount of lighter weight yarn in a contrasting color.
